What's S.U.P.??

Stand Up Paddling (SUP) has exploded in recent years; people from all over the world are enjoying the activity. SUP is good fun as well as exercise. Many muscles, your core and balance are developed.

Most adult SUPs are between 10 and 13 feet long. The bigger the board, the more stable it is and the more weight it can hold. A common beginner’s mistake is to start on a board that’s too small. Stone Harbor in Grand Marais offers two-hour sessions to help you get the most out of your first experience. New or experienced, it’s a great way to experience this iconic North Shore harbor.

Coast Guard regulations mandate that paddlers have a life jacket with them, and paddlers under 13 years of age must wear one. With cold water, don’t mess around; always wear your PFD. Use a leash to keep your buoyant board close to you. Another great safety measure is company, so bring a friend! —SF☀
