Ride On!

Ironwood, MI’s weekly, guided bike rides are a 20-year tradition drawing 10 to 70 people and 300 to the annual Tour da Lake ride in June. Two new local trails are creating a buzz.

Copper Peak, home to America’s largest ski flying jump, has trails with a 610’ elevation gain from Black River to the top of Copper Peak. The trails are fun for all riding levels with banked berm corners, bridges and optional jumps.

It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best.

— Ernest Hemingway

The paved Iron Belle Trail links communities of Hurley, WI, Ironwood and Bessemer, MI. Its six bridges built in the late 1800s cross streams, roads and other railways, giving riders a wonderful taste of how old rail lines were built. Signs share history of the old mining days.

WinMan, Raven, Wolverine, Mt. Ashwabay and Copper Peak are weekly destinations for Tuesday rides with road bike rides on Wednesdays so check with Hobby Wheel on US 2 for schedules. —SF☀
